Meet the Makers : Fair Anita

Fair Anita is a brand that partners with artisan co-operatives around the world. They have teams in Cambodia, Chile, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, and Vietnam and employ over 8,000 artisans.

These makers create jewelry, scarves, handbags, wallets, and more in fair trade settings that are safe. Makers utilize traditional techniques that are native to their local cultures to craft finished goods for consumers, largely from up-cycled materials. In addition to working in safe spaces, Fair Anita artisans are paid a fair living wage that enables women, who might otherwise be stuck in abusive domestic relationships where they are prone to violence, the ability to feel empowered to leave and be self-sufficient.

This shop is named after Senora Anita, a woman in Chimbote, Peru who helped Fair Anita founder Joy McBrian to learn about how women can be changemakers when they are given positive opportunities and we are honored to be supporting these makers and their journeys.
